I finally figured it out.
In past posts, I lamented that I wasn't really sure how to use the Daily Drill. I saw that it was effective in keeping me on track, but I became confused how to use it: was it a values tracker? a MVVA to-do list? a literal to-do list?
It's all of the above. It's my daily guide on how to be sure I've thought things through, have clear priorities, and are being effective.
Things change, priorities shift. opportunities plop down in my lap. I dont need to have a static Daily Drill to some how encompass EVERYTHING and be a super simple 10 steps. I simply need to think it through, prioritize, list what needs to be done, then build out the steps in the DD.
It's just like launching a campaign - what are we tracking? What's the goal? When does it launch? For how long? How are we measuring success? What are the optimizations and key learnings I need to improve AND stay aggressive?
That last question is a biggie - because in an information vacuum, I tend to gravitate toward being in my head, either trying to develop elegant theories or checking out. Eventually, I sort of end up falling apart.
What I'm learning about job hunting is the antidote to that and it's how I should really be consistently operating.
Anyway, by thinking of what I have to do as a campaign, it helps me to be a lot more organized and conscience about how to get started and remain effective - even while I'm confused, because I'll not be isolated. I'll be collecting data.
