power

Despite everything that is going on in the world and with the business, I still feel very optimistic about the future. I think it may have something to do with a revelation (or could it be a memory) of recognizing that I like to be powerful.

I've just been going about it all the wrong way. As I reflect on various aspects of my personal and professional life, I can see that I sought out to be powerful of a particular domain. Trouble is, I wanted to be unchallenged because I did not know how to face challenges.

Flash fwd to today. I now realize that power is mostly about planning - especially when you consider that most ppl are reactionary, and therefore at a disadvantage. My hopping from one opportunity to another is not a plan. My seeking out friends who are needy is not a plan. My looking for someone to measure up to, is not a plan. The path of least resistance is not a plan - or certainly not a very good one.

As I take a big step back from my life I realize that I have a great oppty to develop a realistic plan for my power. I can include ways to fend off nay-sayers and attackers. I can factor in all the things that are imporant to me and prioritize by quality of life/family.

That does feel wonderful. Maybe that's why I'm so optimistic. Imagine taking my abilities and efficiently focusing them toward a phased progression of accomplishment and growth. wow.
