As I may have said before, I am very focused on building up my foundation. Right now, that looks like me prioritizing my health and fitness and my job responsibilities.
The Daily Drill that I originally crafted back in early October has basically served me well. It's allowed me to stay focused and organized and it's helped me to see what really matters, regarding the above foundational priorities. The good news is that what I originally prescribed for myself is pretty sound (again, within the foundational realm).
It covers the FISHREPS spectrum and involves:
Waking at or near the same time every day: 5 am ish; taking my meds + Vitamin E for mood, Krill Oil for skin, etc, a Multi-vitamin, Nitric Oxide for circulation, and HydroxyCut for energy
Hitting the gym for an hour (I'm building up to this, but I'm getting a lot better)
Getting to work early, pounding the water, organizing my day and examining issues I might be avoiding or not prioritizing correctly. This allows me to prevent fires and minimize getting dinged due to poor professionalism. (I have - btw - gotten dinged, but I've used it as a learning opportunity to improved upon my own processes.)
At this point in the day, I am on fire. I'm energized from a great workout and focused from my systems and meds. It's awesome. By mid-morning, I have oatmeal for fiber and endurance. I also take Nitric, Hydroxy, and Adderoll once more, mid-day. Because I'm so focused and energized, I usually feel pretty good about what I've accomplished when I leave.
As for the work day, that's a bit in flux.
I originally thought this job would be super easy - essentially swinging at pitches from our inbound marketing all day long. Nope. The leads are poor, from even poorer systems. That started becoming very obvious in late November. So, I began building out a very specific plan for account growth and content marketing (to generate quality leads). During this time, I also fielded several projects from my boss and I think I'm getting a reputation for delivering, but it's too early to tell.
I've had no major wins yet and that's a bit concerning - but, I know that a) I'm probably being too hard on myself, based on the accountability levels here and b) my detailed plan is pretty solid, as it's based on past experience. And, I'm in the process of rolling it out over the next couple of weeks.
So, again, the good news is that once I start launching stuff, this job WILL be pretty easy - just another expansion of my daily drill.
As for right now, I need to double-down on the Daily Drill. The holidays challenged every aspect of the Drill. I slept in, ate tons of sugar, drank like a fish, forgot my meds or vitamins several times, failed to drink enough water, and didn't hit the gym for weeks. I didn't totally fall off the wagon, but I certainly was faltering.
Once I get the Drill back to nearly 100% and my programs launched, I'll begin to plan out how to take on more at home.
As I said above, this is actually done in a FISHREPS context and I have goals for each area for 5/2013. So, I cant stop at my foundation, I need to expand and take on more responsibility with my/our finances property (including the oft-forgotten time share!) and doing more with my wife and the girls.
One major issue about the Daily Drill, is that it really isn't for weekends because the week is filled with work demands and surprises. As ever, I really do need 10-12 hours a day to do my job. Add in 2-3 hrs for quality time with the fam, and I'm completely booked. So, weekends need to be the time for household things, family time, friend time, and finances. As of now, all that stuff is kinda in disarray.
